L&H Homes has become the newest member of Digital Unite’s Digital Champions Network for Housing (DCN4H).
L&H Homes has over 6500 rented properties across East Midlands, and the East of England. Becoming part of the DCN4H is a reflection of their commitment to help more of their residents to be online.
Digital Unite’s Digital Champions Network is a flexible online platform that provides Digital Champion training and a support community for people who go through that training. There are currently 20 members including 18 housing providers and over 700 Digital Champions.
The Network includes structured and self-study e-learning courses on how to help and inspire new learners to use the internet and peer-to-peer support through a friendly, moderated forum. The courses are also linked to the national Open Badge scheme for professional verification and access to 44 downloadable resources and 400 online guides provides the essential teaching toolkit. Critically all of the Digital Champion activity on the ground can be tracked and evaluated.
Leanne Potter Community Involvement Officer at L&H Homes said: “We are delighted to be part of the Digital Champions Network for Housing. In an increasingly digital world the need to get our residents online is vital so they can enjoy the huge range of benefits using the internet offers. We are looking forward to developing our team of Digital Champions who can go on to make a real digital difference to our communities.”
Kathy Valdes, Business Development Manager at Digital Unite said: “Developing the skills of enthusiastic staff members and resident volunteers can be hugely impactful in helping communities to be online and delivering the hyper-local support that many residents want and need. Our Digital Champions Network provides cost-effective training and support to those staff and volunteers right across an organisation in a structured and sustainable way. We are much looking forward to working with L&H Homes to realise their digital inclusion aspirations.”
